As a specialist lawyer for intellectual property and IT law, I advise medium-sized companies and associations primarily on competition, IT, media and contract law issues, including the drafting and review of general terms and conditions.
In my advice, I attach great importance to honest and fair dealings, not only with you as a client, but also with opposing parties and colleagues. In practice, it often happens that clients keep looking for a lawyer until they have found one who confirms their opinion. This is not helpful. If a matter has no prospect of success, I say so, just as, conversely, you can be sure that there is a well-founded, legal review behind a specific recommendation. We know what we are doing!
Competition law, in particular, requires the development of complex litigation strategies for asserting and defending claims due to its procedural peculiarities. In addition to providing comprehensive legal advice to the retail trade (e-commerce and stationary trade), litigation is a particular focus: I conduct more than 120 court proceedings per year throughout Germany, in which I mainly pursue competition law claims, defend industrial property rights, defend against alleged third-party claims and enforce claims under the law of expression on behalf of our clients.
Decisions of the Federal Court of Justice and the European Court of Justice are based on proceedings in which we acted as counsel in the factual instances.
In trade mark and design law, I specialise in the enforcement and defence of intellectual property rights. The procedural peculiarities in intellectual property law are both a stumbling block and an opportunity. Depending on which side you are on as a client,
I will develop the right (litigation) strategy for you together with my team.
Another focus of my advisory practice is copyright and media law, with particular reference to copyright contract law (licensing and cooperation agreements) and the law of expression (protection of personality and freedom of the press). In these areas, as well as in sales, copyright, media, competition and IT law, I train associations, educational institutions, publishing houses and medium-sized companies nationwide.
